How the Human Regenerator helped me move from daily struggles to conquering Alpine climbs

When Recovery Didn’t Go to Plan

In 2021 I had a full knee replacement. Like anyone, I wanted to get back to living normally and doing the things I enjoyed before, without being held back. For me, that meant cycling. But for a long time after the operation, even basic daily tasks felt out of reach.

The knee didn’t bend fully, and the simplest things became complicated. Walking any distance made it swell up and ache, so I avoided going far. Stairs were a particular battle, I had to come down backwards, one slow step at a time. The constant pain was draining, and it left me with little energy for anything else. Eventually, I was given a blue badge because I could no longer walk reasonable distances. For someone who had always been active, it was a big blow.

First Encounters with the Human Regenerator

During this time, Helen was looking into a device called the Human Regenerator. I decided to try it in London. The first session didn’t feel like much but the second one was different and I came away with more energy and noticed I could move a little easier. It wasn’t dramatic, but it was enough to make me think it might be worth exploring further.

Regenify Health and a Turning Point

A couple of months later, Regenify Health was formed and the Human Regenerator was installed. This was when things really changed for me. I decided to give it a proper go, morning and night at first. After just four days, I noticed a clear difference. The swelling had gone down, I could walk down the stairs in the normal way, and my mobility felt freer. For the first time since the operation, I felt like something was finally shifting.

Back to Doing What I Love

From there, progress gathered pace. I kept up with regular sessions and found myself back in the gym. Not long after, I was back on a spinning bike, and soon after that, a real one. At first it was short rides, then 20 miles, and eventually, a six-day cycling trip in the French Alps with a friend.

The holiday included some legendary climbs: the Col du Galibier at 2,642m, a mountain made famous by the Tour de France, as well as Saint Barnard and Col de la Madeleine. Standing at the bottom of those climbs, I wasn’t sure if my knee would cope, but it did. Reaching the summits was unforgettable, not just for the breathtaking views, but for what those moments symbolised after so much struggle.

Life Now

I still use the Human Regenerator regularly. For me, it’s been the turning point that allowed me to get my mobility back, manage the pain, and regain the energy I thought I’d lost.

My other knee is now due for a total replacement, and I’m already without cartilage in that joint. But so far by using the Human Regenerator, I’ve been able to keep the pain at bay.  The operation will need to happen at some stage, but again, with the ability to use the Human Regenerator regularly,  I don’t anticipate going through the same struggles with swelling and inflammation post-surgery as before.

Most importantly, I have the ability to keep doing what I love. For me that’s cycling but for anyone recovering from surgery, it could mean something different: gardening, walking, swimming, or simply moving without pain.

Conclusion

Recovery after a knee replacement isn’t always straightforward, and mine certainly wasn’t. But I’ve learnt that progress doesn’t always come from where you expect. For me, the Human Regenerator made all the difference. It helped me move from just getting by to living fully again.
